The Shelter for Women and Children in Distress
A non-profitable, charitable organization since 1997, caring for abandoned and needy children, they strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children, giving them support and services with a goal for them to achieve self-sufficiency.
Children from the shelter are sent to schools, crèche, kindergarten, primary school, secondary school, tertiary education institutions, including prevocational schools and special needs school.
Since our inception, UK Mauritius Charity have funded the costs of daily computer lessons.
We have also provided funding for school materials and everyday essentials.
We continue to support this amazing charity to this day.

We-Recycle
We-Recycle is a registered NGO founded in 2016, having for mission to educate, to collect for recycling and to help shape policies, legislation and recycling programs that will help keep Mauritius clean and green.
UK Mauritius started supporting We-Recycle in early 2023.
Apart from collection, examples of other activities over 2023:
Activity day with beneficiaries of Kolektif Rivier Nwar (KRN, a leading NGO in Black River) where children engaged in hands-on activities related to recycling. The organisation also donated 2 recycling bins to the NGO (one of the organisation’s collection truck which services Black River will also collect at KRN).
Production of a video, “Coco Le Cateau Vert” to be used as part of awareness sessions in primary schools
Awareness and collection drive in Baie du Cap and Bel Ombre
“Train the trainer” sessions to train existing and new educators to expand awareness sessions in primary schools
